Dr. Farahani and her team would love to welcome you to the practice!
With extensive knowledge of the connections between the mouth and body, our clinicians are adept at finding the source of dental problems instead of just treating symptoms. Our goal is to prevent dental disease instead of waiting for a problem and then trying to fix it.
At Harmony Dental Wellness, you will find a peaceful and spa-like environment complete with many amenities provided for your comfort including our innovative NuCalm treatment. We are also an eco-friendly office, which means that we use earth-friendly or organic materials and avoid one-time use plastics whenever possible.
Dr. Farahani is very active in continuing education courses, taking several per month. Dr. Farahani is currently working towards Fellowship with the Academy of General Dentistry. She doesn’t think of these courses as requirements for her license, but rather as opportunities to provide better care for you.
Outside of the office, Dr. Farahani believes in donating time to help others. Most recently, she has worked with the Lucy Hobbs Project to empower women in dentistry and has been a local as well as national speaker for them. In 2018, she focused on donating her time with GirlForward here in Austin. GirlForward is a non-profit that provides mentorship services and cultural experiences for newly arrived refugee girls. Most girls in the program are high school age. Girls come from all over the world but most often from the Middle East, Burma (Myanmar) or DR Congo. Dr. Farahani mentored a girl last year who was from Afghanistan and survived violence from the Taliban.
GirlForward seeks to help bridge the gulf between their past experiences and their current world by pairing each girl with a woman who can provide help with the transition. Dr. Farahani believes that America can provide an opportunity for dreams to come true, but that it is our responsibility to help level the playing field for those who need help.

Dr. Sheila Farahani
If you are a new patient with us, let me welcome you and tell you a bit about me. My path to dentistry was winding, but each step along the path provided a foundation for the unique dental practice that we have created here in Austin.
I found a love of science beginning in elementary school that persists today. I have a passion for learning as much as I can about how the body and the universe work. My favorite area of science is physics, which seems to be rubbing off on my sons, Hunter and Logan, as they both are aspiring astronauts!
I studied biochemistry as an undergraduate at the University of Washington and went on to post graduate study in coral reef biology before earning a Master's in Teaching degree. I taught high school chemistry and biology for a few years but was frustrated with the red tape of the education system. As a result, I decided to pursue a career in dentistry where I would have the freedom to create my own systems to improve the health and lives of my patients. I feel that my teaching experience fits hand in hand with my dental degree to help me create a partnership with you where you are heard, understood and are an active participant in living your healthiest life. Other random interests of mine include rock climbing, swing dancing, and the flying trapeze.
With a passion for lifelong learning, I am regularly involved in continuing education courses. I don’t think of these courses as requirements for my license, but rather as opportunities to provide better care for you. In addition to my work in comprehensive, preventive and cosmetic dentistry, an area of concentration in my career has been the treatment of dental anxiety. With a history of severe dental fear in my family, I have completed extensive training to provide accessibility for patients who avoid the dentist due to fear.
Looking forward to meeting you,
Sheila Farahani, DDS

It has been so wonderful getting to know you all over the last year and half. Thank you so much for trusting me to care for your oral health as well as open your hearts to share your lives with me, I am forever grateful. As many of you know I have created and implemented a mindfulness curriculum for teachers and students over the last three years. This past semester has been incredibly impactful as the program has had many positive benefits, one of which is that we have successfully closed the achievement gap between the economically disadvantaged and non economically disadvantaged students from 41% to 1%! As a result of presenting to the Leander Independent School District, I have been overwhelmed with schools that are wanting to bring my program into their schools. I am extremely excited for this opportunity to serve children and educators which means that Thursday, December 19th will be my last day as a dental hygienist. Harmony Dental Wellness is such an incredible place of compassionate and intelligent caregivers that I have been blessed to be a part of and I know that whomever takes my place will have those same attributes and take excellent care of you. If you would like to keep up with me and the work I am doing you can connect with me through my website, www.unscriptedheart.com. It has been such a pleasure taking care of you and your oral hygiene.
Many blessings to you and your families.
