Experience Matters

Dr. Sheila Farahani has completed over 300 hours of rigorous training over two years to become proficient in dental implant placement. This is equivalent to the training an oral surgeon received for the placement of dental implants. As a member of the ABOI (American Board of Oral Implantology), Dr. Farahani adheres to the highest standard of care in the planning and placement of dental implants for single tooth replacement, multiple teeth connected with a bridge, or full mouth replacement of teeth with an All-On-X dental prosthetic. With proficiency in bone grafting, gum grafting, surgical extractions and treatment of complex problems, you can rest assured that Dr. Farahani will provide you with the best level of care available.

The Importance of Planning

With every service and procedure we provide, Dr. Farahani is committed to making sure that you always receive the highest standard of oral health care possible. Implants will never move once integrated, which is why it makes sense for the same doctor to place the implant and make the crown. Dr. Farahani determines the location of the implant to allow a healthy, supported bite on the final restoration.

Dr. Farahani places and restores implants in Austin, TX in order to create the most natural replacement for your missing teeth. She has completed advanced training with 3D Implant Institute. “A picture is worth a thousand words.” This adage certainly applies when it comes to the incredible technology of the art of dental implants.dental implants | dentist austin tx

What Is a Dental Implant?

A dental implant is a post that's fabricated from biocompatible titanium and carefully placed into your jawbone. Here, it will integrate for three to six months with your natural bone. The process of fusing with your bone, called osseointegration, allows your implant to become a permanent part of your dental anatomy and a replacement for the lost root of your tooth. Once the integration process is complete,  your new dental crown will be placed and attached with an abutment.

Your dental crown is custom-designed with highest quality ceramic porcelain so that it blends flawlessly with your surrounding teeth and complements your smile. It also provides the same function that your natural tooth did so that you will be able to eat and chew again with ease.

The Dental Implant Advantage

There are numerous advantages to replacing one or more missing teeth with dental implants. Most importantly, implant placement does not require grinding of non-compromised, adjacent teeth for the sole purpose of fabricating a dental bridge.

This technology has become the preferred method of tooth replacement because of the natural appearance and function it provides. Also, an implant will not decay and can last a lifetime with excellent home care and consistent checkups with your North Austin dentist.

Exceptional longevity means that your dental implant is a more cost-effective tooth replacement solution than other prosthetics such as a bridge or partial denture. These both have limited lifespans, and at some point, you will need to replace them.

Preserve the Bone and Look Younger

dental implants | harmony dental wellness When you lose a tooth, it is typical for the jawbone surrounding the missing tooth to shrink, creating a defect or depression. Dental implants maintain your gum level, along with the density of your jawbone, preventing deterioration and preserving the integrity of your facial structures as you age.

Dental implants can also support other dental prosthetics such as a bridge or denture. This makes it possible for patients with multiple missing teeth to enjoy the benefits that dental implants offer. Utilizing dental implants for your appliance also means that you'll have better longevity since the implant protects the health of your bone.

Frequently Asked Questions

Of course we do! Dr. Farahani uses virtual dental appointments to reduce the number of times patients need to come to the office. Using either photographs or video chats, Dr. Farahani is able to help answer questions or give guidance to patients. This is especially useful for patients going through Invisalign clear aligner therapy. Where as we usually see these patients every 6 weeks, we can reduce those visits to every 10 weeks or even longer between visits! Feel free to ask if Virtual Care is right for you.
